MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA — COFCO International, an agriculture supply chain company based in Hong Kong, said it plans to close its office in Toowoomba, Australia, and consolidate operations to its existing location in Melbourne.

COFCO’s Australian operations supply sorghum, wheat, barley and chickpeas to Southeast Asia and the Middle East markets, with a particular focus on China, Japan and India.

“COFCO International is dedicated to providing the highest level of service to its growers, domestic consumers and export customers, and remains committed to the Queensland and NSW markets,” the company said.

COFCO operates with logistics and processing assets in the key global trade flows, and more than 13,000 employees in 35 countries. In 2016, it delivered more than 100 million tonnes of products globally.
