ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA, U.S. — CHS Inc.’s leader of Ag Business and Enterprise Strategy, Shirley Cunningham, announced her retirement from the co-op effective May 4, 2018.

Jay Debertin, CHS president and chief executive officer, said Cunningham has helped lead CHS through significant growth and change over the past five years

“We recognize Shirley’s many contributions to the company as she announces her retirement,” Debertin said.

Cunningham was named to her current position as executive vice president, Ag Business and Enterprise Strategy in September 2014. In this role, she’s led the company’s Ag Business platform consisting of International and North America Grain Marketing and Agronomy operations. She is also responsible for Enterprise Strategy functions, including planning and strategy, information technology, marketing and communications and building and office services.

“Shirley’s vision, depth of knowledge and breadth of experience in strategic planning and information technology have brought valuable insights and perspective to the organization,” said Debertin. “Under her leadership, we’ve taken a more robust, enterprise-wide approach to planning for future growth for CHS, and opportunities to add value for our owners. Within Ag Business, Shirley has aligned operations and resources to better support the enterprise and meet the long-term needs of our global customers and owners.”

While at CHS, Cunningham served on the boards of directors of joint venture companies, Ventura Foods, LLC, and Ardent Mills, LLC. As the executive sponsor of WiL – Women in Leadership at CHS – Shirley helped create a forum for women in the organization to regularly network and learn from each other, encouraging and promoting diversity and thought leadership.

“As Shirley looks forward to the next chapter in her life, we congratulate and thank her for her leadership and many significant contributions to CHS and wish her all the best in the years ahead,” said Debertin.
