TIANJIN, CHINA – Cargill is investing $15 million at its existing premix and nutrition facility in Tianjin, China, to add a piglet feed production line.

“Early life nutrition impacts an animal’s livability, health and lifetime growth efficiency,” said John Fering, managing director for Cargill Premix and Nutrition business in China. “This investment equips our customers with the right nutrition for this critical time in their young animals’ development.”

The new production line uses a traceable barcode management system during production, which the company said ensures the sustainability and quality of the products delivered to customers, from raw material to finished product.

“We are committed to providing best-in-class products with consistent quality,” Fering said. “This new facility allows us to deliver on that promise by producing Neopigg at a facility that follows HACCP and FSSC22000.”

The piglet feed production line is expected to create 20 new jobs at the Tianjin facility.

This is Cargill’s most recent expansion into feed industry. On Dec. 7, the company opened a new $12 million facility in the Philippines that will manufacture premix feed solutions under the Provimi brand. The facility is located at the First Bulacan Industrial Park in Malolos, Bulacan, Philippines, and employs 50 people.

In October, reached an agreement to acquire Integral Animal Nutrition, a cattle feed producer in Brazil. The announcement comes just a few days after Cargill signed an agreement to acquire Diamond V, a Cedar Rapids, Iowa, U.S.-based company focused on improving animal health.

Cargill’s animal nutrition business has more than 20,000 employees at more than 275 facilities in 40 countries. It offers a range of products and services to feed manufacturers, animal producers, and feed retailers around the world. Some of the products it offers are a range of compound feed, premixes, feed additives, supply chain and risk management solutions and software tools.
