DALLAS, TEXA, U.S. — Gruma S.A.B. de C.V. has opened a new tortilla plant in Dallas. The plant is expected to produce at full capacity more than 10 billion wheat and corn tortillas a year, as well as tortilla chips and flat breads, under the Mission, Guerrero and Calidad brands to supply customers in Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arkansas, Louisiana, Kansas and northern Texas, said Juan González Moreno, president and general director of Gruma.

“With this plant, Gruma establishes itself as the leading company in production, marketing and distribution of tortillas in the United States and reaffirms its commitment to offering its clients and consumers world class healthy products that satisfy tastes and preferences,” González Moreno said. "This new Gruma plant is equipped with the latest technology and operates based on strict quality and sustainability standards."

The new plant is expected to create 1,000 direct jobs and more than 4,500 indirect jobs.

“Mission Foods now has the capacity to meet the growing demand for our products in Texas and neighboring states in the future," González Moreno said.

San Pedro Garza Garcia, Mexico-based Gruma has been operating in the United States since 1977. Today, the company has 20 tortilla production plants across the country and a total of 75 plants around the world.
