WINNIPEG, MANITOBA, CANADA — G3 Canada Ltd. (G3) announced on March 28 plans to build two primary grain elevators in Saskatchewan, Canada, as the next step in its plan to build a coast-to-coast grain handling network.

“These two new locations are being constructed with the same state-of-the-art truck delivery and rail shipping features as our other new facilities, which are key components of G3’s excellent customer service offering,” said Karl Gerrand, chief executive officer of G3.

The sites are located approximately 5 kilometers north of Melville on Highway 10, and 7 kilometers west of Saskatoon on Highway 14. Construction on the new elevators will start in April, and both are slated for completion prior to the 2018 harvest.

The new facilities will feature high capacity drags under the driveshed, enabling trucks to unload quickly. Both facilities are being constructed on CN Rail with 134-car loop tracks, providing G3 with rail access to its Thunder Bay and St. Lawrence River terminals, and to G3 Terminal Vancouver once it becomes operational in 2020, Gerrand said. The new elevators at Melville and Saskatoon are being constructed with 34,000 tonnes and 42,000 tonnes of storage capacity, respectfully.

“We’re excited to join these communities, and will work hard to earn the privilege of being the preferred business partner for local farmers,” Gerrand said.  “We look forward to showing local farmers what G3 has to offer their business.”

G3 has opened four new grain elevators in Canada since August 2015.

G3 is a joint venture between Bunge and state-owned Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Co. (SALIC) that was established to purchase a controlling interest in CWB, formerly the Canadian Wheat Board. G3 is working to establish an efficient coast-to-coast Canadian grain enterprise that provides stronger market access for growers.
