HONG KONG —COFCO International has received all required regulatory approval to acquire the remaining minority stake in Nidera Capital B.V., currently held by Cygne B.V. The acquisition brings COFCO International’s ownership in Nidera to 100%.

The shareholder transaction deal will be closed on Feb. 28. From the closing date forward, COFCO International will have full ownership of two global agribusinesses, COFCO Agri, formerly known as Noble Agri Ltd., and Nidera. COFCO said it intends to pursue a full integration of COFCO Agri and Nidera into COFCO International in order to leverage the combined capabilities of COFCO Agri’s highly strategic asset base and Nidera’s strong origination and trading networks.

COFCO bought 51% of Nidera in 2014, and then announced in August 2016 that it would acquire the remaining minority stake in Nidera Capital B.V., bringing its ownership of Nidera to 100%.

Nidera is a major international agribusiness and trading company based in the Netherlands. COFCO International is the overseas investment and management platform for the agribusinesses of COFCO, with its upstream origination and trading operations linked to the downstream processing and distribution capabilities of COFCO and its affiliates in China to create a fully integrated value chain, consistent with COFCO’s strategy.
