OVERLAND PARK, KANSAS, U.S. — Approximately 200 milling professionals from across the Southeast Asian region are readying for the upcoming 7th Annual IAOM Southeast Asia District Expo, set for Oct. 9-11 at the Intercontinental Bangkok in Bangkok, Thailand.

Based on the format of the IAOM’s annual meeting and other district meetings around the world, the international forum will bring together industry professionals for two days of educational programming, networking, the exchange of ideas, and the discovery of new products and services. This year’s meeting also will include a pre-conference workshop on mill operations and management led by Joel Hoffa, corporate milling engineer at The Mennel Milling Co., Fostoria, Ohio, U.S.

The conference will open on Sunday, Oct. 9, with a pre-conference workshop.  Monday and Tuesday will be filled with technical educational sessions, sessions that will showcase new products and processes and a table top expo with around 40 exhibitors, according to the IAOM.

The conference is being held with support from The Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau.

Southeast Asia is a region where domestic flour milling capacity is growing, as is consumption of wheat-based foods. It is estimated that by 2020, per capita flour consumption in the region will grow to 64 pounds, up from 37 pounds in 2010.
