MOOSE JAW, SASKATCHEWAN, CANADA — Agrocorp International announced on May 9 it is entering into a purchase agreement with Veikle Grain Ltd. Located in Northern Saskatchewan on a main Canadian Pacific Rail line, the Cut Knife plant handles grains, pulses and oilseeds. Carl Veikle, owner of Veikle Grain Ltd., has been a longstanding member of the grain community, and Agrocorp said it is looking forward to growing the existing relationships with local producers and expanding our network in the North Western Saskatchewan draw area.

Canadian Pacific Rail has been a great partner on this project and has been a significant boost in the project’s expedition. Agrocorp is looking forward in their continued support with future business and further plans for expansion.

“We continue to accelerate our bulk vessel and containerized business in Canada, both in major grains and specialty crops,” said Colin Topham, managing director of Agrocorp Canada. “With the United Nations declaring 2016 the international year of pulses, Canadian growers are stepping up to meet the challenge of fast growing international demand by planting more acres. As Canada transitions to become the major supplier of protein for the world’s increasing population, we at Agrocorp are excited to be a part of this global story.”

Agrocorp has expansion projects planned for both the rail and storage capacity with the rail expansion slated to finish in the fall adding 80,000 tonnes of capacity to its supply chain.

Veikle Grain Ltd. is a pulse processor providing cleaning, bagging and export services. It also provides load out services for bulk or bagging and containers, box cars or bulk hoppers. Bagged product is marketed under the Viking Brand. The company currently exports to the Middle East, Asia and South America and are actively marketing pulses, canola and wheat.

Agrocorp International is a wholly owned subsidiary of Agrocorp International Pte. Ltd., a multinational agricultural trading company based out of Singapore with 17 global office locations. Agrocorp handles over 5 million tonnes of product each year and has an annual turnover of $1.9 billion.
