HAMBURG, GERMANY — Archer Daniels Midland Co. (ADM) announced on June 2 that it is temporarily halting production at its biodiesel plant in Leer, Germany, because of the uncertainty about the future of biodiesel in the country.

The company said it would reassess biodiesel market requirements in the third quarter, Reuters news agency reported on June 2.

Germany has called back biodiesel usage targets in the last several years. The E.U. agreed in June 2014 to limit production of biofuels from food crops.

ADM said it had no plans to idle other biodiesel plants in Germany, Reuters reported.
