CENTURION, SOUTH AFRICA —Billy Oosthuizen, chairperson of the National Chamber of Milling, announced on May 31 the appointment of Boikanyo Mokgatle as the executive director of the National Chamber of Milling effective  June 1.

Mokgatle has been serving as the acting executive director of the chamber since the departure of Jannie de Villiers end of February 2011.

Mokgatle has an honors degree in agricultural economics and has had various senior positions in Provincial and National Government departments including Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries as well as Trade and Industry. He joined the Chamber of Milling as its Protocol and Relationships Executive in August 2006.

Mokgatle recently led the organization through a very turbulent period of its 75th year Anniversary in 2011 to date and has, with the support of the board and its members, crafted a new strategic direction for the National Chamber of Milling which will see the organization delivering more succinctly on the specific needs of the milling industry and its varied stakeholders in the future.

The board and members said they wish Mokgatle all the success in his new role and look forward to his contribution in re-establishing the chamber as a vibrant industry body.
