CALGARY, ALBERTA and MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA — Viterra Inc. and the Montreal Port Authority (MPA) announced on July 4 that Viterra has commenced operation of the grain terminal previously managed by the MPA. This follows the April 21, announcement by Viterra and the MPA of a definitive lease agreement.

The grain terminal is licensed as a transfer elevator by the Canadian Grain Commission and has a storage capacity of 262,000 tonnes. The terminal's location enables it to operate year round. Serviced by a port railway, it has direct access to both CN and CP rail networks. It also provides direct shipping routes to various destinations in Canada, the U.S. and Europe.

The agreement was signed following a selection process led by the MPA, and successful due diligence conducted by Viterra. On May 2, Viterra further strengthened its presence in Eastern Canada by opening a new merchandising office in Montreal that will source and market food ingredients to key destination markets in Canada, the U.S. and Europe, while complementing terminal operations by facilitating the efficient movement of grains and oilseeds through its value-added pipeline.
