ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA, U.S. — U.S. Wheat Associates (USW) welcomes Tyler Jameson as assistant director of policy in its Arlington, Virginia, U.S., headquarters effective Jan. 10, 2011, the USW announced on Jan. 5.

Jameson will provide support for trade policy issues, food aid, biotechnology and trade with sanctioned countries. He will also serve as a liaison to partner organizations and other trade associations. Most recently, Jameson worked as a legislative assistant for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Agriculture.

“We are excited to have Tyler join our policy department,” USW Director of Policy Shannon Schlecht said. “His knowledge of agricultural trade initiatives and experience will enable us to expand our ability to monitor and influence policy issues affecting U.S. wheat exports.”

In his position with the House Ag Committee, Jameson monitored developments in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s export promotion programs, including the Market Access Program (MAP) and the Foreign Market Development (FMD) program. He was also involved with sanctioned country trade legislation and monitored regulations impacting the trade of goods produced through biotechnology. In addition, Jameson coordinated a congressional delegation to Asia to promote U.S. agricultural trade.

Jameson earned his bachelor’s degrees in political science and sociology from Shepherd University in his home state of West Virginia, where he grew up on a small farm.
