EL-MARASHDA, EGYPT – A large project supplied by Cimbria in Egypt that included 23 silos was commissioned and officially inaugurated on May 14 by Egyptian president H.E Abdel Fattah El Sisi in El-Marashda near Luxor.

The project is considered to be the one of the largest orders for silo plants with a total storage capacity of 1.38 million tonnes of wheat. The project had a contract value for Cimbria of more than $100 million.

Geographically, the locations of the 23 plants stretch from the Mediterranean Sea and Suez all the way down to Aswan, in addition to a plant at East Owinate, 600 km west of Aswan.

The order included project design and engineering, supply of conveying equipment, cleaners, laboratory equipment and electronic operation and control units as well as supervision, and training of operators.

Each of the 23 plants has a capacity of 60,000 tonnes, including conveying and cleaning facilities with a capacity of 200 tonnes per hour. The entire scope was supplied within nine months and contained about 1,400 containers of equipment and materials.

Around 400 VIP´s were gathered in an air-conditioned tent at the silo site where the Egyptian president, prime minister and three other ministers were present during the six hour event. The president headed the official opening of the silo and was in addition on video for three other silos as well as other new infrastructural constructions.

The president visited the control room and inspected the receiving area as well as the outloading during operation with grain taken in and discharged into a truck.

The Egyptian wheat harvest started in April and grain has been taken in at all the plants through the country.
