LATVIAOne of Latvia’s largest flour millers and the Baltic states’ biggest producers of flaked grains, Rigas Dzirnavnieks, has opened a new plant that is expected to increase grain processing capacity from 180 to 250 tonnes per day. It will increase the company’s estimated 25% share of Latvia’s flour market by some 10%.

The approximately US$6.5 million investment by Sweden’s Nord Mills and Finland’s Melia is claimed by chief executive officer Andris Sedmalis to be the most advanced flour mill in the Baltic region.

A new drying facility is planned to be commissioned before the end of the year.
