MMW unveils new process for modified starch from flour

In response to customer requests for additional possibilities for the utilization of flour, MMW (Maschinen und Muhlenbau Wittenberg GmbH) has introduced a unique and patented process for manufacturing modified starch from flour for use in the non-food area.

Unlike conventional wet extraction processes and other modified starch manufacturing technologies, the MMW system does not require water for processing, thus producing no waste products or waste water, the company said. The process is energy efficient and environmentally friendly, MMW said.

MMW's Challenge 2000 plus milling system produces the flour properties required for the modified starch production. Demonstrations of the new system will be offered early this year, the company said.
