Harinera La Espiga plans mill expansion

Harinera La Espiga S.A. de C.V., a wheat flour mill in Mexico City, recently announced the fifth major expansion in the past 14 years as part of "Espiga Milenio."

With the expansion, the facility becomes the largest mill in Mexico City and one of the two largest in Mexico, with expected capacity of 230,000 tonnes of wheat in 2001, according to Ignacio Gil, the mill's general manager. Over the past 20 years, the facility's grind has been growing at an average annual rate of 8%, Gil said.
