Archer Daniels Midland Company has announced the election of Craig A. Fischer as vice-president and president, ADM Milling Company, to succeed Craig L. Hamlin in that position. Reporting to ADM President John D. McNamara, Fischer will be located at the ADM Milling office in Overland Park, Kansas.

Fischer, 51, is a 28-year veteran with ADM, beginning his career in the Tabor Grain Division and serving as a vice-president in the Corn Processing Division, as president of American River Transportation Company and most recently as president of both ADM BioProducts and Specialty Ingredients Divisions.

Hamlin joined ADM in 1975 and had served in numerous capacities within ADM Milling, including president since 1989 and senior vice-president of the company since 2000.

ADM Chairman and Chief Executive G. Allen Andreas expressed the company’s appreciation for Hamlin’s 26 years of service and many contributions in helping build ADM into the world’s leading flour miller.

ADM Milling Co. operates 70 processing facilities in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Mexico and the Caribbean producing wheat, maize, sorghum, rice and oat products.

ADM also restructured its Food and BioProducts divisions to strengthen the company’s global focus on its core food and feed operations, as well as its value-added functional foods and ingredients.

Each of the three operations — ADM Natural Health and Nutrition (value-added products), ADM Specialty Ingredients (food) and ADM BioProducts and Feed (feed) — will function as a distinct division with its own leadership. All the divisions will report to John Rice, senior vice president, Food and BioProducts Divisions.

"This new alignment will enable us to capitalize more effectively on the opportunities in each of these three important product areas," said McNamara. "Now, we have focused efforts in all three sectors, with strong leadership and well-aligned global strategies. We’ve brought the right people together with the right assets, and it’s going to make a difference in the way they operate and add value to our customers."
