Upgrading its line of conveyor belt cleaners, Martin Engineering, Neponset, Illinois, U.S., recently introduced Maximizer Urethane and guarantees it will last twice as long as the company's previous orange blades. The Maximizer belt cleaning blades are rated with a hardness of 85 durometer, Shore A, and are suitable for temperatures ranging from -40° to 160° F. The company also published a new selection guide for high-performance urethanes used in conveyor belt cleaner blades. To help plant operators select the appropriate blade, Martin Engineering color-coded its urethane formulations. The Maximizer orange urethane is best suited for abrasive materials; brown represents chemical-resistant urethane; green designates high-temperature urethane; and the clear version is for light-duty applications.
