BESTWOOD, NOTTINGHAM, U.K. — The Weighing & Batching Systems Group of BMH Chronos Richardson has started work on a new animal feed control system for one of the largest chicken feed milling groups in South East Asia.

Valued at €112,000 (US$109,547), the project is for Gymtech’s chicken feed mill in Meiaka, Malaysia. The new SOW 500 batch weighing and process control system will be supplied as part of a mill upgrade program, designed to provide increased weighing accuracy, improved batch consistency and enhanced levels of management and process data.

"This order is our second project for Gymtech, and it was secured following the successful installation of a similar system in Indonesia," said John Dance, Weighing & Batching Systems Group regional sales manager.

Engineers from BMH Chronos Asia Pacific (BMH CAP), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, will provide full site wiring and commissioning.

In a related matter, Chris Emmonds has been appointed customer services manager for BMH CAP. The appointment follows the sudden and unexpected death in late March 2002 of the previous post-holder, Fred Turner. Emmonds brings with him a wealth of product and industry knowledge, having previously worked at BMH’s Nottingham, U.K., office for 18 years.

"Fred Turner’s death left a tremendous gap, but with Chris’ excellent understanding of securing business in the Asian market, we are confident he will prove to be a worthy successor," said Peter Brennen, Bagging U.K. regional director.

Since its inception five years ago, the BMH CAP office has received positive responses from its customers across the region, including higher accuracy, optimum plant performance and reduced downtime as the major benefits of having signed service contracts with the Kuala Lumpur office, Brennan noted.
