Genetic ID, Inc., Fairfield, Iowa, U.S., is the first lab to receive accreditation from the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) for quantitative testing and screening for unapproved genetically modified varieties. UKAS accreditation is accepted throughout the European Union. A UKAS accreditation ensures that the lab complies with ISO/IEC Guide 25 and EN 45001 standards. Genetic ID's accredited tests include real-time PCR GMO quantification, Triple CheckSM semi-quantitative GMO analysis using conventional PCR, threshold screening and Varietal IDSM, which screens for GM varieties not approved in specific nations or regions. Genetic ID's proprietary GMO testing methods are also available at its lab in Japan as well as through the Global Laboratory Alliance, a network of expert labs.
